The nearest town is only 4 miles away, where you can find a grocery store, bank, hardware store/auto supply, garage/gas station, liquor/beer store, variety store and several restaurants.

The only resort on the lower Spanish River

We are the only resort on the lower Spanish River. From the dam at Espanola, which is 50 miles
away, to the mouth of the river, we are the only resort. There are a few scattered residences along
the river, but you will have very little competition for quiet places to fish.

From the resort, it only takes twenty minutes by boat to get to the mouth of the river. Once there, you can pick and choose the type of structure, weed bed, or water depth for the fish that you are after. A detailed map, showing water depths, is provided. (click on map below to enlarge).

How To Get To Us

Blue Heron Resort is located in Northern Ontario,  4 miles East of the town of Spanish, or 8 miles West of the town of Massey.  We are only: - two hours east from Sault Ste. Marie - one hour west from Sudbury - four and one-half hours from Toronto.

Guests arriving via I-75 at Sault Ste. Marie take highway 17 East about 120 miles (through the town of Spanish) to Kring Road, then turn right. We are only one mile off of highway 17.

Guests arriving via I-90 at Buffalo or Niagara Falls take Q.E. Way to 403 or 427 to Toronto, to 401 East, to 400 North, (which becomes Highway 69 North) to highway 17 West and travel 60 miles from Sudbury (through Massey) to Kring Rd. and turn left.  We are only one mile off of highway 17.
