Summer Time at Country Cabins & Campground on Talon
Lake
SUMMER
Our cottages are booked from Saturday to Saturday from the last
Saturday of June to the first Saturday of September. The other months of the year the
minimum nights you may book are two. Three day packages are also
available.
Talon Lake is 16 kms long & has offered excellent fishing for
many years. The lake is very clean & the fish are good clean
fish. There are many areas to fish & maps are provided at the
general store & Rick Gater, the owner, will be glad to give you
some good tips on where to find them.
Talon Lake offers a beautiful peninsula about a 7 minute boat
ride from our camp. The water is pristine & clear. The MNR
provides a fire pit & wood stumps where you can have a shore
lunch or simply just sit back & enjoy the sunset. This area is
especially good for little children, as the water is not very
deep for a ways out. The kids absolutely love it here.
Blueberry Island is a lovely little island
where you can pull your boat up in the inlet & go for a little
walk & pick as many blueberries as you wish & also the pinecones
are abundant. The MNR also maintains this
island
so you may choose to have a barbecue at the fire pit & enjoy the
gorgeous sunset that is always a must.
The Talon Lakes Chutes are a 10-minute boat ride through a
gorgeous channel from our camp.
These Chutes were filmed in the making of a Labatt's "Out of the
Blue" commercial. You may even have seen them diving off the
cliffs in this commercial. This is also a portage so the walk is
especially nice with moss growing out of the rocks as you walk
up & down the path & very old trees. The Chutes have a strong
flow of water & it's a perfect place for the photographer to
bring the camera. Morning, noon or evening is always a pleasant
time to visit this area.
If you would like to take a canoe & do a day trip, you can go to
Paresseux Falls. There are five portages from our camp to reach
these beautiful falls, the chutes being the longest & most
varied. If you desire a longer trip, from Paresseux Falls you
may canoe along the Mattawa River to Mattawa. We have maps & we
may be able to answer your inquiries about this lovely trip.
This area has so much to do & we provide a
binder in your cottage with so much information
aboutWalleye Fishing at Country Cabins adventures in the area.
Ideally, if you were up here a week you could have an adventure
every day & be doing something different.
We also have trailer sites depending on availability. Your site
is larger than most in the area & you have your own meter.
Dumping station is very handy & a laundry facilities & public
showers & toilets (which are immaculate) are very nearby. Call
for details.
We have a fully stocked general store on the premises - fresh
vegetables weekly, a large variety of dairy products, bread,
spices & all your grocery needs. Many souvenirs & gifts - one of
a kind are available here as well. You may be surprised what you
see in our little store - it is full of many little surprises.
